Universal Pultrusions LLC manufactures the premier line of pultruded products in our industry. Our 'fiber reinforced polymer' (FRP) Door System is unique. We produce THE ONLY FRP DOOR which is entirely pultruded.*

The UniPul corrosion defiant door is pultruded as a homogenous Isophthalic Polyester Resin shell hermetically encapsulating a Polyurethane Isocyanurate core, this composite structure delivers the same benefits of steel with none of the drawbacks.

Our pultruded FRP doors, doorframes, window frames and louvers have low embodied energy and thermal performance comparable to wood and vinyl. Pultruded FRP is incredibly durable, stable and virtually maintenance free. Be advised, however, that all FRP doors are NOT created equal.

Conventional FRP doors are manufactured using a mold and/or hand-laid 'gelcoat' method, then assembled with metal fasteners and/or glued together on an FRP or aluminum frame. Our door system offers the ONLY 100% FRP DOOR which is ENTIRELY PULTRUDED.

Manufactured with precision to meet critical installation tolerances and accept any hardware including security electronics, the UniPul corrosion defiant door is immune to magnetism and rust, insulates against heat and cold, resists chemicals, salt air, physical abuse, chronic moisture, bacteria and radiation and will never delaminate, chalk, craze, fuz or warp.

All these features combine to save energy, reduce overall life-cycle cost, respect environmental well-being and maximize ROI.

Specific environmental benefits of pultruded products include reduced magnetic fields,
low embodied energy and non-conductive insulation against heat and cold. Yet in comparison to steel, FRP materials are lightweight and easy to install -- all of which saves energy and further reduces overall life-cycle cost. However, if disposal is ever necessary FRP material poses no known threat to the environment.

*Pultrusion is a machine process that mechanically pulls a continuous fabric of glass (or other) fiber reinforcement through a catalyzed resin bath or injector in front of a die.

The resin saturated fiber is pulled through a heated steel die, activating thermogenic chemical bonds in the forming polymer. A solid cured profile emerges from the die, is cut to length and custom prepped for each particular installation.

This highly specialized machine process produces materials with remarkably durable physical properties. The pultruded force combined with the thermogenic chemical bonding does for conventional fiberglass reinforced plastic products what extrusion does for aluminum and what vulcanization does for rubber: Causes molecules to link in a way that creates a more stable and durable product.
