1. What makes the Universal Pultrusions Door System better than other FRP doors? Our proprietary Door System is the best Door System on the market for several reasons. Firstly and most importantly, the entire door panel is pultruded as a single monolithic panel. What that means in simple terms is there are no seams in the panel so there is no chance for delamination/separation of the panels from the core. The stiles (inner and outer sides) of the door are reinforced with extra fiberglass during the pultrusion process so they can be prepped/routed for hinges or other hardware. If you look at all the other FRP door manufacturers on the market you'll find that they produce their door panels by assembling a sub-frame and gluing fiberglass skins over the frame. This method allows for seams that can eventually pull-apart.

Secondly, our unique pultruded doors are highly customizable. Available in several standardized widths, the sky is the limit when it comes to specialty configurations. You need a 3ft x 25ft door? No problem. You need a 2-1/2ft x 4ft door? No problem. All glass, half glass, no glass, full louver, half louver? No Problem. We can customize our doors to fit your specifications.

Thirdly, our doorframes also customize well. Standard frame widths generally are 5 3/4" or 7 3/4" but sometimes standard sizes just don't work. With our unique Door System we can offer adjustable frames that can range from 4 1/2" to 12" inches wide.

2. What makes the Universal Pultrusions Door System better than hollow metal standards? Our Door System is by far superior to the hollow metal standard in many ways. Most notably the fact that our FRP doors and frames are completely non-corrosive. In even the harshest of environments our Door Systems can withstand most anything chemically you throw at them. Our Door Systems are ideal for sewage and water treatment plants, swimming pool areas, hospitals/veterinarian facilities, food processing facilities, chemical manufacturing plants and any other type of caustic, abrasive, demanding environment.

Our Door System can be used as exact dimensional replacements for hollow metal standards. Meaning if you need to retrofit an existing structure with new doors and frames, the our Door System can be installed in any existing opening with no modifications at all. At half the weight of steel doors and the same if not better structural integrity, our doors are just a smarter way to go in most any situation you can think of.

3. What do we mean when we say "Door System"? Our Door System consists of the door panel and frame, ready to receive your selected hardware and install in your facility.

4. What is our standard lead-time when an order is placed? We quote lead-times on a per-order basis, before the order is finalized and approval drawings are signed. That way you will always know just when to expect your order to arrive on site for installation. Our lead-times are generally between 4 and 6 weeks.

5. Do we use gel coating as a finish for our Door System? We do NOT use a gel coat finish on any of our components. Our Door Systems use a polyurethane finish that is very similar to the finish used in automobiles. It is stronger than polyester gel coat. It is more resistant to the relentless effects of UV radiation and air-borne corrosives. Polyurethane finishes are not susceptible to chalking, discoloring, crazing, fuzzing or leaching like polyester gel coat. The polyurethane finish also maintains a high gloss finish that will last for years, unlike the polyester gel coat.

6. How do I get a quote or place an order? There are several very convenient ways to get a quote or to place an order with us, but the best way is to contact one of our trained Sales Representatives. Also, you may download and print one of our PDF order forms, fill it out and fax to us at 870-448-5120 or simply give us a call, 870-448-4406.

7. What is the Pultrusion Method? The Pultrusion Method is a machine process that mechanically pulls continuous fiber reinforcement through a catalyzed resin bath or injector and heated steel die which activates the resin to produce a solid cured profile which is then cut to a specified length. The automated mechanical pulling force coupled with heat-curing produces materials with extraordinary durability and strength; physical properties much higher than a hand laid laminate.

8. Is there any limitation on what hardware the Universal Pultrusions Door System can handle? Because of the way that the our Door System is manufactured, there are no limits on what hardware you can use. Reinforced stiles mean that you can prep the sides for any hinge/lockset configuration required. With our end cap component, any closer set can be installed as well.

9. What is the history of Universal Pultrusions, LLC? We began manufacturing pultruded FRP doors, frames, thresholds, door louvers and wall louvers for commercial applications in 1986. Our proprietary door panel manufacturing process is unique to the industry. In 2004, Keith and Kevin Jensen purchased the business and became sole owners of the company and manufacturing technology.

10. How do I become a sales representative for Universal Pultrusions, LLC? We work with independent sales agencies throughout the United States and Internationally. Some sales territories are currently available in selected regions. Contact us for qualifying criteria and compensation details.

11. How do I find out who the Sales Rep is in my area? In the Contact Us section of this website, there is a map that shows each of our U.S. regional sales territories. Simply click on your state and the page will auto-scroll to your Sales Rep's contact information. If your region does not have a designated Sales Rep, please contact us directly.

12. Is the Universal Pultrusions Door System very expensive? Our Door Systems are competitively priced with conventional FRP doors but deliver more bang for the buck.

13. What are the most common uses of our Door System? Some common uses are in wastewater/water treatment plants, hospitals, veterinary clinics, chemical manufacturing plants, pharmaceutical plants, pools and water parks, schools, any building near saltwater, electronics and computer manufacturing facilities, zoos, aquariums, theme parks, food and beverage processing and storage facilities, pulp and paper processing plants and other demanding industrial applications.

Our Door System is a dimensional equivalent to hollow metal standards, so anywhere you would normally see a hollow metal door you can use our Door System. Unlike hollow metal doors though, our Door Systems are non-corrosive. So even in the harshest of environments, you can install our doors and not have to worry about failure due to corrosion.

14. Can I get a custom matched color for the Door System I want to order? All of our pultruded products are delivered with a quality gray primed finish or your choice of 10 standard colors, however we also offer 30 custom colors. We use a two-part polyurethane made by Ameron International chosen for its chemical protection, color stability, durability, and long-term aesthetic appeal. We offers a custom color matching service as well. All you need to do is send our a sample swatch of the color you want your Door System to be finished in, and we will match that color.

15. What kind of maintenance do our Door Systems require? Our Door Systems are nearly maintenance free and may be cleaned using any commercial cleaner. If the finish needs to be re-touched due to heavy use, it can be done with any commercial-grade polyurethane epoxy industrial coating, prepped to the manufacturer's directions. This gives our Door System a unique edge over gel-coated products which, when this coating degrades, are nearly impossible to properly refinish. To refinish an epoxy polyurethane coating, however, it is only necessary to clean and prep the surface, apply and allow to cure.

16. What kinds of anchor methods are used with our frames? Another great benefit of purchasing our Door Systems is the fact you can specify exactly what type of frame anchor you want for your individual needs. Standard frame anchors are available as well as the ability for our to customize for your preferred style of anchor. Also, you may use existing anchors on retro-fits.

17. What are the uses for our Louvers? Just like our Door Systems, our Louvers are manufactured using the Pultrusion Method creating strong, light weight, non-corrosive louvers for any application where you would normally use metal or plastic louvers. Door mounted louvers can be any size for any door configuration. Wall mounted louvers may be fixed or adjustable, ready for manual or mechanical adjusters.

18. Where can I find more information on door sizes and styles? Visit the Product section of this website. There are several PDF documents available listing sizes and styles. Just remember that our Door System is highly customizable, so never hesitate to tell us your exact needs. Tell us the size and style that will meet your special need and we will do our best to manufacture it for you.
