Subject: incidental food product approval question
Recently you requested personal assistance
from our on-line support center, re: how to go about getting USDA
'acceptable use' approval for the FRP doors of your manufacture in terms
of incidental food contact in federally inspected meat and poultry plants.
The USDA Facilities, Equipment, and
Sanitation Division was dissolved in 1996. There is no longer prior
approval for equipment or compounds. The Agency implemented Sanitation
Performance Standards Jan. 2000, 9CFR 416.1-416.5. In terms on the
construction of a door, the following sanitation performance standard
applies:
If the door is made of durable
materials, readily cleanable, impervious to moisture and used in a manner
that does not adulterate product or create an insanitary condition, there
is compliance.
